Are you passionate about safeguarding personal data and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations? Do you have a wealth of experience in providing expert advice and guidance on data protection matters? We're seeking a dynamic person to lead our Data Protection efforts and promote a culture of compliance within our organisation.

Role Overview:

As the Data Protection Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring Eastlight's compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other relevant data protection laws. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as Eastlight's main point of contact for data protection matters and liaising with regulatory authorities.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to employees on data protection obligations and best practices.
  • Influencing decision-making processes to ensure compliance with data protection laws and promoting privacy by design principles.
  • Developing and implementing comprehensive data protection policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and monitoring their effectiveness.
  • Investigating and managing data breaches, including reporting incidents to regulatory authorities, and communicating with affected individuals.
  • Reviewing and advising on policies, procedures, and documentation related to the processing of personal data.
  • Leading the review and maintenance of data protection compliance frameworks and schedules.
  • Maintaining records required by GDPR and ensuring ongoing compliance with data protection laws.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Data Protection or equivalent experience (recognised qualification in data protection such as CIPP)
  • Demonstrable experience as a Data Protection Officer or in a similar compliance assurance role.
  • Experience advising executive management teams and boards on technical and legal data protection matters.
  • Proficiency in developing policies, procedures, and processes in a regulated environment.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly advise on complex data protection obligations and influence decision-making processes.
  • Understanding of the social housing sector or similar industries and practical application of data protection best practices within them.

  • 59,331 annual base salary
  • Fulltime, Permanent Contract
  • Group stakeholder pension plan (Eastlight will double, up to 5% of the employee’s contribution - Employee 5% + Eastlight 10% = Total 15%)
